While Facebook has become the default place to manage friendships online, I feel like the standard Facebook interface for describing friendships to be insufficient, so here I list some of my friends with interesting web sites or stories I'd like to share about them. It's amazing how many of my friends, even the nerdiest ones, are musical.
If you're not on this list but should be, just let me know!
Adam Boulanger
http://web.media.mit.edu/~adamb/
Adam is one of the most gifted, creative, intelligent, and kind people I know. It's an honor to be his co-founder in our new company, Hear For Yourself.
Adam Sadowsky
I first saw Adam as Eli on my favorite TV show as I child, but I met Adam recovering from a non-creative 9-to-5 existence, and now he is rocking the web with his brilliance.
Altaf Husain
http://www.halaltube.com/speaker/altaf-husain
Altaf is my best friend from high school who also happened to get a Ph.D., but more important is the man he became, a humanitarian, a professor, and a spiritual leader.
Ann Parker
Ann is a world-famous mystery-writer and a good friend. She even created a character based on me in her latest book... which character? Dr. Aurelius Prochazka of course.
Anthony Rodriguez
Anthony is an amazing lyricist, composer, and producer. Even beyond music, he is uniquely intelligent and innovative.
Art Martinez
Art is a talented singer and songwriter and guitarist, well multi-instrumentalist really. What's really surprising is that even with all that, he's still the nicest guy you'll ever want to meet.
Asif Ahmed
Asif is a real-life rocket scientist and has been a great friend to me over the years. Asif is one of those rare individuals who has a wide breadth of knowledge that also runs deep.
Cati Vaucelle Boulanger
http://web.media.mit.edu/~cati/
I suppose we've all heard of people like Cati, but to actually know someone who can light up the room with their ideas and personality, that's a privilege.
Eric Cummings
http://coolearthsolar.com/team/eric
Eric is a machine. There is no keeping up with him, no arguing with him, and certainly no stopping him.
Erik Larson
http://cymascope.com/aboutus.html
Erik is a great guitarist, singer, and all-around musician. His aesthetic sense also comes through in his physical designs.
Eve Andersson
Eve is an accomplished programmer, manager, teacher, musician, composer, photographer, and that's just on Monday.
Jason Axinn
Jason is too humble to admit what a great film maker, singer, guitar player, bassist, drummer, recording engineer, or comedian he is, so I have to be the one to say it.
Jeff Steill
http://www.researchgate.net/Jeffrey_Steill
Jeff is one of my newest friends, but we feel like we're old friends. Jeff plays guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, banjo, and sings. He's super-brilliant but doesn't ever throw that in your face.
Michael Crockett
http://www.nebulouslynerdtastic.com/
I drafted Michael to Cool Earth Solar and he won the "best employee" award in his first year through his fearless work ethic. Later, he repaid the favor and introduced me to Christine.
Michael Hartl
I have seen Michael Hartl's transformation over the years. He's a great guy with knowledge on so many diverse topics. Don't ever pass up an opportunity to have a conversation with him or hear him give a lecture.
Ramin Naimi
Ironically, one of my best friends doesn't care to have much of a web presence. What can I say, Internet? Your loss. You're missing out on his intelligence, thougthfulness, and wit.
