Here are some examples of my work. If you have time for just one, Thaumaturgist is my recommendation!
DichotomyThis instrumental was a "hit" on mp3.com's "New Age" category. The name comes from the two main parts of the piece, one of which is calm and sedated and the other is raucous and percussive. |
Gentle SoulThe sound of Gentle Soul is that of a piano, but the entire piece was recorded using a MIDI Guitar playing a sampled piano. |
KrystyneThis one is VG-8 modeled acoustic guitars with a lot of effects created by delay, which makes it sound overdubbed, but it was all one take. |
ThaumaturgistUsing one dominant theme, I recorded variations on different instruments, tempos and styles and weaved them together to produce a hybrid classical - middle eastern feel. |
75665Like "Krystyne" this one is all V-Guitar heavy on effects and delay. |
75665 Pt. 2A continuation of the theme, but this time most of the guitar sounds are midi-triggered samples. |
Without A CareThe keen listener will notice that the central chord progression here is a re-interpretation of Dichotomy's calm section. The singer, Eve Andersson gives this song a Dido-esque feel. |
AscensionAn experiment to see what I could do with two-handing tapping technique. |
Piled Higher and Deeper
I formed a band with my wife Christine Dickson, Ph.D. and my friend Jeff Steill, Ph.D. and since we all have Ph.D.s we named ourselves Piled Higher and Deeper. We half-jokingly require that any future bandmates have to have a Ph.D.! We are on Facebook at http://facebook.com/phdband.
